Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez (born Sara Ramirez) is a Mexican American performer, singer and actress. Sara Ramirez was raised by her American mother and was subjected to a variety of racist taunts and made her feel unwelcome. When she went to school contests and received the highest praise for her singing at the age of 9 the young girl started to gain confidence. Not only did it boost her confidence, but also her goals transformed. The 22-year-old graduated with an education from the Julliard School in New York. At the age of 23, her first Broadway appearance in Paul Simon's The Capeman, and her debut in the film You've got Mail were both major break. In the Broadway original production of Spamalot, she played the Lady of The Lake and won both the Tony Award as well as the praise of critics. Later that year, as Callie Torres on Grey's Anatomy for ABC, she gained greater fame. In addition to being an acclaimed singer she has released two solo albums and an extended piece. In addition, she is an LGBT activist.
